Hi everyone! I’m Laurel, and I am so excited for my fourth summer coaching the Upper Valley Rapids! I was a competitive swimmer from the age of five until my senior year of high school. In high school, I captained my team at Miss Porter’s School, winning two New England Championships. My favorite event to race was the 100 Fly. Although I am no longer a competitive swimmer, I still have a great love for the sport. I just completed my second year at Colby College, where I am majoring in Religious Studies and Classical Civilizations and minoring in Education. When I'm not coaching, I love to hike with my two dogs, play ultimate frisbee, read, try new food, and go on adventures with my friends.
Hi, I'm Addy, and I can't wait for the summer swim season to start! I've been swimming competitively for 11 years. This will be my eighth year with the Rapids (I've been with UVR since their first year!) and my fourth year also helping out with coaching -- first as a junior coach, and then as a coach. I've also swum for the Manchester Tritons, Bennington Marauders, Hanover High School, and UVAC. My favorite events are the 200 IM and 100 Fly. This summer, I'll also be lifeguarding at the Quechee Club and probably waitressing at the Norwich Inn. When I'm not swimming, I love rowing crew with Upper Valley Rowing, playing flute with the Upper Valley Community Band, snowboarding, hanging out with my dog Brûlée, and traveling to new places. I'm a rising senior at The Sharon Academy High School.
Hi everyone! My name is Katie, and I am a graduate student at Dartmouth College's Geisel School of Medicine, pursuing a doctoral degree in Microbiology. I swam competitively through high school in St. Charles, IL, where I grew up. My favorite strokes were, and still are, backstroke and the individual medley! After graduating from college, I was an assistant coach for a swim team in Minnesota, where I continued to be involved in this wonderful sport and fostered that love for swimming across all age groups. I am excited to be part of the Upper Valley Rapids community this summer to share my love for swimming and support new goals for each team member. In my free time, I love to cook, run, ski, bike, hike, and enjoy all that the Green and White mountains have to offer!
Hi, I’m Nate. I am a rising junior at Hanover High School, and I have been swimming for many years. I swam for the Rapids for five years, starting the year the Rapids was created! I have also swum for the Hanover High School Varsity team, and I swam for over five years at UVAC. I coached tennis last year, and I enjoyed it so much that I was super excited to continue on my coaching path! I would say my favorite events are all of the freestyle events, except for the 200. I also love playing tennis, piano and scuba diving!
Hi, I'm Alexa, founder and team manager of the Upper Valley Rapids. Our incredible UVR swimmers and families make every season better than the last, and I can't wait to see what this summer will bring! In addition to having fun with the Upper Valley Rapids, I enjoy outdoor adventures with my daughter and our dog, playing flute in the Upper Valley Community Band, going to concerts, hiking, snowboarding, XC skiing, cooking and baking, getting to the ocean, seeking out awesome sunsets, and planning and occasionally going on adventurous trips.
Hi I'm Elliot. I'm a rising 8th grader at Richmond Middle School. This is my 7th year on Rapids, and I also swim with UVAC. My favorite events are the 100 IM and 50 & 100 Back. When I'm not swimming, I love to play baseball, ski and play the violin. I'm excited to be a junior coach for the first time!
Hi! My name is Heidi, and I’ll be a freshman at HHS this fall. I’ve been swimming with UVR since the team started, and this is my first year as a junior coach. When I’m not swimming, I enjoy reading, cooking, spending time outside, and playing sports. Some of my favorite sports are XC skiing, running, rowing, and of course, swimming. I’m looking forward to a fun season and can’t wait to work with all the swimmers this summer!
Hi! My name is Nola and I'm a rising 8th grader at RMS! I have been swimming for two years on UVR and am excited for my third summer! When I'm not swimming, I like to do theater, painting, and reading. This is my first year of junior coaching and I'm super excited, and I also hope this will aid in more coaching in the future for me!
